DAF 105 – modern and powerful tractor truck
The need for a new flagship truck that complies with Euro-4/Euro-5 standards led to the introduction of the XF105 series in 2005, which has an updated engine. Thus, the most costly and up-to-date series does not displace the XF95 trucks, which will continue to be built for nations with Euro-3 criteria.
The entire masses of 18 (wheel formula 4×2), 24.9 (6×2), 25.087 (6×2), 25.7 (6×2), 26 (6×2), and 32 tons are used to build the XF105 series chassis (8×4). Wheelbase sizes vary from 4.2 to 6.9 meters. The wheel formula for Sadel tractors is 4×2 (18 tons full weight, 40 tons in the car train), 6×2 (between 23 and 26 tons, 44 tons in the car train), 6×4 (26 tons, as part of the train, 60 tons), and 8×4 (36 tons, as part of the train – 58 tons). The wheelbase is 3.6 meters in double-sided ropes, 3.1 to 4.55 meters in three-haired ropes, and 4.8 meters in four-axle ropes. Tags with low supporting device locations (96 cm) may be carried in parts no longer than 3 meters and with loads up to 100 m3.
The exterior of the automobile XF105 is distinguished by a new steel bumper design with four circular fog lights, a big radiator grille, an inlaid aluminum ornamental strip, new side and rearview mirrors, and a xenon-shaped block manufactured in the color of the inside. The roof of a Super Space Cab.
The new Paccar MX engines, which are used the inside of the XF105 cabin instead of the XF95, have a lower height than DAF XE engines, which is coupled with a much-decreased elevation of the floor tunnel. In addition, the appliance panel is embellished, either with wood or metal. The appliance’s panel also has a second AdBlue additive that may be found in the “urinary” tank.
XF105 machines are powered by Paccar MX motors with 410, 460, and 510 horsepower. Adblue tanks may hold 50 or 75 liters of liquid (a tank with this volume can be enough for 4.5 thousand km of run).
The DAF Telematics System, created to communicate data and manage the rolling stock park, debuted in 2006.
The system comprises an onboard computer, an Internet gateway, and a successfully integrated DIN standard on the XF105 car (CF). The GPRS technology establishes a link between the truck and base and sends data about the potential to alter the route and the whole journey.
The telematics system’s capacity to link exchange to navigation makes it unique. This function enables you to transfer the most efficient traffic route from the transportation provider to the design placed on board the truck during the flight, which may then instantly show it on the driver’s screen. In addition to reporting and navigation, other features include the ability to track down a stolen vehicle and regulate the cargo’s temperature.

The heavy trucks DAF 95 series appeared in 1987, ten years later the abbreviation XF (Extra Forte) was
added to the numbers, meaning the creation of a particularly powerful (Extra Forte) model, and in 2002 the 95XF was replaced by the XF95 series with a new cab.
The chassis of the XF95 series has a total weight of 18 (4 × 2 wheel arrangement), 25.7 (6 × 2), 26 (6 × 2), 26.5 (6 × 2 and 6 × 4), 32 (8 × 4) and 35.5 t (8 × 2). Truck tractors
are manufactured with a wheel arrangement of 4×2 (gross weight — 18 tons, as part of a truck- 40 tons), 6×2 (from 23 to 26 tons, as part of a truck- 44 tons), 6×4 (26 tons, as a part of
a truck- 60 tons) and 8×4 (36 tons, in the composition of the truck — 50 tons). The wheelbase for the chassis is from 4.2 to 6.9 m, for biaxial truck tractors — 3.6 and 3.8 m, for
3-axle vehicles — from 3.1 to 4.55 m, for 4-axle tractors — 4.6 m.
For the trucks, there are two options for double cabins with a width of 2490 mm: XF Space Cab with an internal height of 1885 mm and XF Super Space Cab — 2255 mm
(internal volume is 1.1 m3). Cabins are still considered one of the most comfortable. The noise level in the cabin does not exceed 66 dB (A) at a speed of 85 km / h.
On trucks, 6-cylinder 24-valve DAF XE diesel engines are installed with a working volume of 12.6 liters and a power of 381, 428, 483 and 530 hp. Engines equipped with
UPEC‘s proprietary DAF fuel injection system, which uses nozzles with electronically controlled individual pumps, meet Euro-3 standards. Fuel consumption at a
crankshaft speed of 1200 rpm for a 381-hp engine is 196, for a 428-hp — 195, for the two most powerful — 192 g / kWh.
Engines are linked with a ServoShift 16-speed manual gearbox or AS-Tronic robotic gearbox. The DAF rear axle is equipped with a hypoid gear.
On trucks designed for use on poor roads, wheel gears are installed.
All versions feature ventilated disc brakes front and rear. The truck is equipped with an electronic brake system EBS, including ABS, traction control
ASR and emergency braking Brake Assist. As an option, a VSC motion stabilization system is installed.
The appearance of the XF105 series with a new engine in 2005 was caused by the need to create a new flagship truck that meets the requirements of Euro-4 / Euro-5. This most
modern and expensive series, therefore, does not replace the XF95 trucks, which will be produced for countries where Euro-3 standards continue to apply.
The chassis of the XF105 series is available in gross weight 18 (4 × 2 wheel arrangement), 24.9 (6 × 2), 25.087 (6 × 2), 25.7 (6 × 2), 26 (6 × 2) and 32 t (8 × 4). The wheelbase
is from 4.2 to 6.9 m. Truck tractors have a 4×2 wheel arrangement (gross weight — 18 tons, as part of a train — 40 tons), 6×2 (from 23 to 26 tons, as part of a train — 44 tons), 6×4 (26 tons, in
the composition of the train — 60 tons) and 8×4 (36 tons, in the composition of the train — 58 tons).
The wheelbase of 2-axle truck tractors is 3.6 m, of 3-axle vehicles — from 3.1 to 4.55 m, of 4-axle tractors — 4.8 m. Tractors with a low position of a linking device (96 cm) can be transported
as a part of a train, height which does not exceed 3 m, cargo up to 100 m3.
Externally, the XF105 truck is distinguished by a new design of a steel bumper with four round foglights, a large radiator grille inlaid with an aluminum decorative strip,
new side and rear rear-view mirrors made in the color of the cabin, xenon headlights, as well as additional projector-type headlights integrated into Super Space Cab Roof.
The principal difference between the interior of the XF105 cabin, compared to the XF95, is the greatly reduced tubercle of the floor tunnel, which is associated
with the use of new PACCAR MX engines, which have a lower height than DAF XE motors. The instrument
panel is more richly decorated — under aluminum or wood. In addition, an additional pointer indicator of the AdBlue additive level in the urea tank is located on the instrument
panel.
PACCAR MX motors installed on XF105 machines have a power of 410, 460 and 510 hp. The capacity of the tank with AdBlue is 50 or 75 liters (a
tank with such a volume can be enough for 4.5 k kilometers).

DAF Trucks NV — Netherlands manufacturer of trucks, a division of PACCAR. The company’s motto: Eng. Driven by quality, Rus. Driven by quality. The headquarters and main factory
are located in Eindhoven. Cabs and chassis are produced in Westerlo in Belgium. Some models of trucks that are sold under the brand DAF, Leyland Trucks worked in factories in Great Britain.
In 1928 Hubert van Doorne founded Commanditaire Vennootschap Hub van Doorne’s Machinefabriek. Its co-founder and investor was Huygens Arnold, managing director of the brewery. Van Doorne car
Huygens repaired several times. Huygens was so pleased with his work that he offered to give him money for his own business. Van Doorne started working in a small workshop in the territory of the
brewery, where the collected metal cabinets, windows and stairs. Soon they began to produce horse, tractor and finally, road trailers. In 1932 the company, which is now managed by Hubert and his
brother, Wim van Doorne, changed its name to Van Doorne’s Aanhangwagen Fabriek (Rus. Factory trailers brothers van Doorn), abbreviated of DAF. Huygens left the company in 1936, and the company
DAF was now completely in the hands of the brothers Van Doorne.
After the Second World War there was a shortage of cars and trucks. It was a big opportunity for DAF. In 1949 the company started to make trucks, trailers and buses, changing its name to Van
Doorne’s Automobiel Fabriek. The first model of the truck was a DAF A30.
In 1948, DAF launches at once two test models: a five-ton truck DT5 and the tithes DT10. To save the permissible length of the
wheelbase, the cabin, it was decided to place on the engine, transferring all its shunting part of the front axle.
Since 1956, the company refused to import DAF engines borrowing policy and released their first, though licensed, diesel engine DAF Leyland.
In 1967, DAF has opened a new plant in Borne car manufacturing. DAF 44 is the first model that was made there.
DAF sold unit for the production of passenger cars (currently known as NedCar) Volvo company in 1975.
DAF Buses separated from the company in 1990 to become part of the United Bus.
In 1996, PACCAR acquired DAF Trucks.
Currently, the company DAF Trucks is the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial motor vehicles. DAF dealer network includes more than a thousand centers in Europe, Africa,
Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East and Taiwan.
- Cabins: All cabins have cabover layout. The engine tunnel in the XF series low height — 12 cm.
- Cabin lighting is made on the basis of fixtures with a red filter that allows you to turn on the lights in the cab on the go without fear of glare.
- In all models, «Daf» has a mat on the instrument panel, which in the case of bottling beverages (tea, coffee and so on. D.) Will protect the electronics of the instrument panel.
- 1980: DAF trucks started to the Dakar Rally, winning in 1982, 1985 and 1987. In later years, they had a truck with double engine with a total capacity of more than 1000 hp (700 kW).
- 1988 Two trucks displayed at the start of the Dakar Rally. Jan de Rooya Truck on special stages took the 3rd place in the average, ahead of Peugeot 405 T16. Another truck overturned, killing
Cees van Loevezijn. DAF fizzled. - 1996: DAF began to participate in the European truck racing series, at first not very successful, but by 1999 almost become a champion. To everyone’s surprise DAF eliminated.

Already created a hybrid version of the DAF LF 45 hybrid. Tests have shown a very high efficiency of these machines. GUS like «Peterbilt» made by Eaton. Despite the high
efficiency of transportation, often have difficulty with available capacity, which greatly affects at drop heights and high angles of ascent.
