Dosage
form: sucking tablets.
Composition
The
drug is a polyvalent antigenic complex, a mixture of bacterial
lysates, whose composition corresponds to that of the pathogens that
more often cause inflammatory processes in the oral cavity and
throat.
Description
White
or almost white planocylindrical tablets with a smooth luster
surface, without pores.
Pharmacotherapeutical
group
Immunostimulant.
Pharmacological
properties
A bacterial immunostimulant for local use in dentistry and
otolaryngology.
Activates
phagocytosis, promotes the increase in the count of immunocompetent
cells, enhances the production of lysozyme and interferon, salivary
secretary immunoglobulin A.
Indications
Treatment
and (or) prevention of inflammatory and infectious oral and
pharyngeal diseases:
•pharyngitis;
•chronic
tonsillitis;
•oral
dysbacteriosis;
•erythematous
and ulcerative gingivitis;
•ulcerations
caused by dentures.
Contraindications
•individual
hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or
any
other components of the product;
•children
under 3 years of age.
Pregnancy
and lactation
Information
on the use of Imudon in pregnant females is insufficient . There are
no relevant data of animal experiments and epidemiological studies.
The use of Imudon is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation.
Dosage
and administration
For
adults and adolescents above 14 years In
acute and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and throat and
exacerbations of chronic diseases the drug should be used as 8
tablets daily. The tablets should be sucked (without chewing) in the
oral cavity at an interval of 1 hour. The mean duration of a therapy
course is 10 days.
For
the prevention of chronic inflammatory diseases
of
the oral cavity and throat, the drug should be used as 6 tablets
daily. The tablets should be sucked (without chewing) in the oral
cavity at an interval of 2 hours. The duration of a course is 20
days. Three-four annual courses of preventive Imudon therapy are
recommended.
For
children aged 3 to 14 years
For
the treatment of acute and recurrent chronic inflammatory diseases
of the oral cavity and throat and for their prevention, the drug
should be used as 6 tablets daily. The tablets should be sucked
(without chewing) in the oral cavity at an interval of 2 hours. The
duration of a therapy course for acute diseases is 10 days, that for
the prevention of chronic diseases is 20 days.
Three-four
annual courses of preventive therapy with the drug are recommended.
Adverse
reactions
In
rare cases the use of the drug may cause allergic reactions
(eruption, urticaria, angioneurotic edema). There may be
gastrointestinal reactions (nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain).
Overdosage
Cases
of IMUDON overdosage have not been described.
Drug
interactions
IMUDON
may be used in combination with drugs from other groups.
Special
instructions
Children
aged 3 to 6 years are to suck the tablets in the oral cavity under
adult control!
If
required, the mouth should be gargled not earlier than 1 hour after
the use of IMUDON not to reduce the therapeutic activity of the drug.
When
the drug is prescribed to patients on a salt-free or restricted diet,
it should be taken into account that 1 tablet of IMUDON contains 15
mg of sodium.
Effect
on the capacity of driving a car and handling with other mechanisms
There
are no data suggesting that the activities associated with the
driving of a car or handling with other mechanisms should be limited
during treatment.
Pack
A
blister contains 8 tablets. A cardboard pack contains 5 blisters.
Storage
The
drug should be stored at a temperature of not above 25 C. To keep
out of the reach of children!

Методическое разработка
рекомендована преподавателям для проведения практических занятий и контроля
текущего уровня знаний обучающихся по теме «Инструкции по применению лекарств», для
дисциплины ОГСЭ. 03 Иностранный язык (английский).

Задание
1. Прочитайте текст по теме «прием лекарств».
Taking Medicines
No matter what
type of medicine your doctor prescribes, it’s always important to be safe and
follow some basic rules:
Read the label and
follow directions. Ask if you have questions.
Take medicines
exactly as prescribed. If the instructions say take one tablet four times a
day, don’t take two tablets twice a day. It’s not the same.
Ask if the
medicine is likely to affect everyday tasks such as driving or concentrating.
Don’t take more
medication than is recommended. It won’t make you heal faster or feel better
quicker. In fact, an overdose of medication can make you sick.
Always follow your
doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions. For instance, he or she may tell you to
take a medicine with food or instead to take the medicine on an empty stomach.
Remember that
drinking alcohol can dramatically worsen the side effects of many medications.
Always tell your
doctor and pharmacist if you’re taking any other medicines or any herbal
supplements so that he or she can check for any interactions between the medications.
Take antibiotics
for the full length of the time prescribed, even if you start to be feel
better, so that all the germs are killed and the infection doesn’t bounce back.
Keep medicines in
their original labeled containers, if possible.
Don’t use medicine
that has expired, especially prescription medicine.
If you have any
allergies, tell your doctor and pharmacist before they start you on a new
medicine.
If you get a rash,
start itching, vomiting, or have trouble breathing after starting a medication—
get emergency medical care right away. These may be signs of a severe allergic
reaction.

— Организовать учебную деятельность по изучению новой лексики в результате, которого, по окончании учебного занятия, обучающиеся будут знать: лексику по теме «Инструкции к лекарственным препаратам»;
— Создать условия для отработки навыков и умений в употреблении новой лексики

— Осуществлять поиск и использование информации

— Содействовать развитию речевых навыков;

Ход урока
T: — Good afternoon, girls! At our previous lesson we had a talk about drugs and its forms. Today we’ll continue our work devoted to Medicine. Now let’s review what medicine forms do you know?
S: powder, tablet, ointment, solution, tincture, globule, decoction, infusion, capsule
T: That’s right. You’re future nurses, I want you imagine the situation – you’re going to give drugs to patients. How will you do it? What will you tell the patient? One of you is a nurse and the other is a patient. Write down your instructions which you will give to the patients.
S1 –S2 (students work in pairs)
T: That’s good. Now let’s do the next task: put the words into correct word order and make sentences.
Students work on the task and then read aloud one by one.
T: Tell me please what these sentences look like. Yes, you’re right. We have rules of working with drugs for nurses. Try to remember them. Now, when you know the rules, it’s time to speak about the drug itself. What must we do before taking medicine? I’m sure you know. Yes, it’s true; any medicine has directions for the administration which consist of some special points. (Show them boxes with medicines and some directions)
Of course, patients must read them before taking drugs. Can you tell me what are these special points?
Students try to name them. They are indications, contra-indications, dosage, side effects, important notes, precautions. (The words are written on the board).
T: You’re quite right. And the topic of our today’s lesson, as you have understood, is “Directions for the administration”. Now we’ll take new words and phrases that are helpful while reading and working with instructions.
Students read and translate words and word-combinations.
T: Now, girls let’s read some drugs’ directions for the administration. ( Give them instructions)
Students read and translate.
T: Answer my questions, please. What is Plaquenil prescribed for? Any there any contra-indications? Is it possible to reduce the dosage of the drug? What are the side-effects of Plaquenil? What are they? What can you say about precautions?
What about Atromid-S? What is it prescribed for? Are there any cautions? What are they?
T: So now, you’ve got acquainted with the instructions and I want you to make your own ones, that is translate directions from Russian into English. Use the words and phrases we have just taken.
Students work and having done the task read aloud their translation.
T: Well done, girls. Now answer my question please. Is it important to read the directions for administration? Why? Or Why not? Please motivate your answer.
Students give their answers, trying to explain.
T: That’s fine. I fully agree with you that it is very important for patients to read the directions for the administration in order to be sure in indications, contra-indications, dosage, special notes and cautions.
T: Finishing up our lesson, I’d like to say that all of you worked today well enough and I give you the following marks …

- Patients with severe gastro-intestinal, neurological, haematological disorders should take this drug with precautions.

3. Read some drugs’ directions for the administration
Plaquenil
(Tablets)
Indications: Rheumatoid arthritis.
Contra-indications: Psoriasis.
Dosage: An initial adult dose (2-3 tablets) is daily taken at meal times. If the patient feels well, the dose can be reduced to 1-2 tablets.
Important note: in chronic rheumatic disorders ocular examination should be made before therapy with Plaquenil is started and regular examination of the eye must be at three monthly intervals.
Side effects: Side effects include nausea, diarrhea, dermatitis. These symptoms disappear immediately when the dosage is reduced or the drug stopped.
Precautions: Patients with severe gastro-intestinal, neurological, haematoligical disorders should take with precations.
Atromid-S
Indications: Atromid-S is prescribed for the treatment of atherosclerosis, particularly coronary heart disease.
Dosage: The daily dosage must be divided into two or more doses and taken after food.
Precautions: Take not more than 6-8 capsules. Treatment of patients with renal dysfunction requires caution. Do not give Atromid-S to pregnant patients
