   В этой книге обобщен опыт многих автолюбителей по эксплуатации, ремонту и модернизации узлов и агрегатов автомобиля ВАЗ-2131 и его ближайших «родственников» из семейства, начало которому было положено моделью ВАЗ-2121 весной 1977 года. Автор при написании этой книги старался отойти от стереотипа, который представляют собой многие издания формата DIY — Do It Yourself — «Сделай Сам», и которые очень часто представляют внеочередной выпуск журнала «Веселые Картинки» для взрослых, заполненный нудными таблицами формального поиска неисправностей или рекомендациями по перевозке животных на дачу. В книге излагаются не столько правила технического обслуживания и эксплуатации Нивы (литературы на эту тему теперь предостаточно) но, в большей мере, способы ремонта Нивы, читателю предлагаются несколько технических решений по модернизации ее узлов и агрегатов, позволяющие улучшить различные эксплуатационные характеристики автомобиля. При этом, например, рассмотрены методы улучшения мощностно-тяговых характеристик двигателя, не снижающие, а повышающие его надежность в целом. Такой подход использован, по возможности, в отношении всех предлагаемых переделок. Автор не является сторонником улучшения внешнего вида автомобиля с помощью различных пластиковых навесных конструкций, в большинстве случаев ухудшающих и без того неважную аэродинамику Нивы. Автор никому не навязывает свою точку зрения — он просто выражает ее в своей книге. В настоящем Руководстве рассмотрены следующие двигатели ВАЗ: — объемом 1.7 л.
